Art in Hospital, or Hospital Art, is said to have originated in Sweden, Scandinavia, and in the capital, Stockholm, there is a rule that hospitals must allocate 2% of their budget to art. Hospital art has been pervasive in Europe and the United States for a long time, but recently Maebashi Red Cross Hospital has built a new hospital that incorporates art to embody the idea of a "friendly hospital," and the Osaka Acute and General Medical Center has a hospital gallery that serves as a healing space. It is now being adopted by many hospitals in Japan.
Research has shown that looking closely at works of art can improve your attentiveness and observation skills, and viewing paintings may be used to prevent dementia.
Takabayashi Gastroenterology Clinic has been exhibiting contemporary art works since June. By incorporating art into medical spaces that tend to be inorganic, we hope to provide a more comfortable space for our visitors.
In addition, we would like to support the artists who provide this space so that it can serve as a venue for their presentations and serve as an opportunity for their future successes.
